Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Maa Flyover, a critical route for commuters traveling from Kolkata to Salt Lake, the Airport, and New Town, will undergo renovation starting Thursday. The closure will impact the eastern section of the flyover, extending from Park Circus to the Bypass. To facilitate repairs, this stretch will be closed daily from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM until the work is completed. The renovation is being carried out by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA), with the aim of improving the flyover’s structural integrity and safety.
Commuters are advised to take alternate routes during the closure. Vehicles traveling on the flyover or the EM Bypass will be diverted via Surabardi Avenue, Darga Road, and Number 4 to reach the Bypass. The closure is expected to cause temporary traffic disruptions, particularly during peak hours, and authorities are urging people to plan their travel accordingly. The flyover will remain closed until the necessary repairs are finished.
